![]() and as mentioned, would have been the obvious way to include a playable female character too, for people who care about such things. ![]() I was campaigning hard for the 32x sprite Chaotix team also, but including any of them before Amy made no sense as far as the size of her fanbase and the amount of people familiar with the character. I'm all for Mighty and Ray, and I agree that its great to bring back more obscure characters. Thu 30th Mar Yes, so that fact she's such a well known character in so many games, including many classic ones, and titles with platforming, meant to me and many others it seemed weird that she wasn't the very first character to be added alongside Sonic, Tails and Knuckles in Mania.so now finally having her here feels like way bigger a deal than it "should", because of how many times she's been left out before, seemingly for no logical reason. Then to have her again missing from Origins was expected, but annoying. Felt like the devs were sidelining her because of personal bias. And then when Mania Plus added two other characters but still left Amy on the sidelines, even though she's far better known, and has been playable in the Advance series and 3d games, it felt like a "slight" of sorts of purposefully refusing to use her, not to mention a shame to miss an easy opportunity for a female playable character. I think part of the reason so many people feel so strongly about it is that for classic Sonic fans, Sonic Mania was a huuuuuge fricken deal, and the only "problem" was it felt like Amy should have been playable too. I always thought other people would think it was a bit weird how much I wanted Amy playable in these games, so I've always memed it a little to underplay how much it means to me, but its nice to see so many others feel similarly Seriously though, open that YouTube video and check out the comments, 50% of them are people elated to have Amy finally playable. Thu 30th Mar Those are fighting words! She's clearly the best character! lol.they are literally only a few kb and run on the same emulators because the GG hardware was near identical save for the screen resolution. That said, I'm not complaining about the GG games being included in this collection, its great to see the titles not forgotten, its just frustrating how it would have taken almost no effort or memory/storage to include the superior Master System versions too. Plus many younger Nintendo fans have already been through these conversations already having originally experienced the GG games on the Gamecube games but then when the games came to the Wii Virtual Console they were blown away by the differences. A cursary glance at gameplay videos or even screenshots and its night and day. Not to mention Australia, New Zealand and Brazil.Įven still, you don't have to be an "expert" to determine how much better the Master System ports are. All of the Master System versions (including Spinball and Mean Bean) outsold the Game Gear versions by a huge margin in these territories also. I've been wanting to control Amy in a classic Sonic game since Remember that this is a UK based site and in the UK and most of Europe, the Master System versions of Sonic 1 and 2 were two of the biggest selling 8bit games of the 90s and outsold the NES Mario titles. I LOVE the sprite work they did and if Headcannon were the ones to integrate her I'm sure she will play brilliantly. I can't even begin to put into words how hyped I am to play as classic Amy. Knuckles is now playable in Sonic CD, as well! As with the inclusion of playable Amy, we were thrilled to provide some new graphics to complement SEGA’s efforts in making this possible. We were excited to hear that SEGA wanted to make Amy playable, and we couldn’t resist an opportunity to help her into the spotlight! New playable characters need new sprites, and our own was certainly up to the design task while performed data management. Headcannon: It's coming - Sonic Origins Plus! We're happy to announce that we’ve once again cooperated with SEGA to update this project you know we can't resist Sonic! Here’s some of what you can look forward to in Origins Plus: In a lengthy series of tweets, it explained how it helped put Amy in the spotlight, helped out with Knuckles in Sonic CD and was able to supply "a few additional updates and enhancements" to help make this collection the "best it can be". Now, following the announcement of Sonic Origins Plus, the "indie game and utilities" developer has confirmed it's "once again" cooperated with Sega to this time update the project. You might recall how the Sonic Mania developer Headcannon had some involvement in Sonic Origins. ![]()
